Latinos in Preservation

Saturday, October 7th at 113 Liberty Street, Hanson Realty

Architect and preservationist Enrique Aureng Silva will present his research that looks at the intersection of historic preservation and the Latino community in Newburgh and beyond. He will share examples of case studies that shed light on the significance of historic preservation for immigrant groups, particularly the Latino community in the US. He will also talk about the community outreach and survey work that he did to understand the Latino community’s experience with historic preservation in Newburgh.

This program summarizes the research done as the Look! Mira! Building Design Literacy project funded by the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State legislature. This program is presented as part of @archtober, NYC's annual architecture and design festival.
