Music Session: Cellist + Composer Daniel Blair Frankhuizen

On Sunday July 9 at 7pm, cellist, composer Daniel Blair Frankhuizen will perform varied works for solo cello, ranging from early pieces composed by Johann Sebastian Bach to his own post-modern compositions for cello and electronics.

Daniel has played with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Binghamton Symphony, renowned HV jazz groups like the Neil Alexander Ensemble and Alexis Cole Quartet, as well as: Miracles of Modern Science, Holychild, Rubblebucket, Dreamt, Elijah and the Moon, The North Country, Simone and the Spectrum, Beat the Grid, Ayurveda, John Brown’s Body, Big Mean Sound Machine, and Kevin Kinsella. He has has made festival appearances in New York (Blue Heron Festival, Fringe, Grassroots), Washington DC (Nuit Blanche, Dog Days), and Italy (Orvieto Musica).

He is the cello faculty at a local nonprofit: Stringendo, Orchestra School of the Hudson Valley, located in Wappingers Falls and teaches in his studio in Beacon. His teaching experience spans over 14 years, many of his students have gone on to study in music conservatories.

Daniel earned a Bachelor of Music, Cello Performance from the Music Conservatory at Ithaca College, and a Master of Music, Cello Performance from Purchase Conservatory.
