Archtober Newburgh 2024

This October, The Fullerton and many local individuals and organizations are hosting a dynamic weekend with +20 events focused on the city's architecture, preservation & history.

Home to the second-largest historic district in New York State, Archtober Newburgh will celebrate the city’s rich tapestry of architecture, preservation, and history the weekend of October 4-6, 2024 with special programs on October 12, 2024.  Unique to the Hudson Valley, Archtober Newburgh is an annual festival with a dynamic array of over 20 free programs to honor the city’s shared cultural treasures, raise awareness about their significance, and engage a broader audience in neighborhood preservation efforts. Archtober Newburgh is proud partner of the Center for Architecture's Archtober - a well-established design festival in New York City.

The weekend is organized in partnership with AIA Westchester + Hudson Valley and presented as part of @Archtober, NYC's annual architecture and design festival. Number of AIA credits offered will be announced closer to date.

Archtober Newburgh 2024 will host a slate of new and old programs. Some highlighted programs include:

  • An immersive Minecraft experience of Newburgh pre-urban renewal supported by Open Space Institute

  • A  scanathon with the Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Highlands

  • Two hands-on demonstrations by Hudson Valley House Parts on how to do Paint Removal and Brick Repointing on Historic Buildings 

  • A film screening of The Sixth Section which documents the immigrant labor experience in the 1990s in Newburgh. 

  • Navigating government rehabilitation and restoration programs like State Historic Tax Credits, Landmarks Conservancy’s Sacred Sites Grant Program, and local Architectural Review Commission

  • Look! Mira! Walking tours of Johnston, William, and Dubois streets by RUPCO’s YouthBuild students

  • An Architectural Scavenger Hunt of Newburgh for the young and the young at heart. 

  • A Garden Showcase exhibition happening after the Olmsted Network’s landscape architecture conference

  • A walking tour featuring the transformation of Lander Street corridor by Newburgh Community Landbank and RUPCO and the available programs to help 12550 residents with home repairs.

  • A green building symposium at ADS Warehouse showcasing implemented projects and other green infrastructure upgrades

  • A real estate 101 crash course for black and latino who are curious about entering the real estate field.
