Scan-a-thon: Digitize your Archive

Bring the past to life again! The Newburgh Historical Society invites you to the first-ever Scanathon at the Crawford House, 189 Montgomery Street. 

Part of Newburgh Archtober 2024 that celebrates local architecture, streetscapes and landscapes, this free event invites participants to bring hard-copy images of Greater Newburgh to be digitized at no charge.  Participants will leave with access to high-res digital files and their original materials.  

Accepted formats include photographs, negatives, or slides (limit 12 per person). To promote and preserve Newburgh’s history, the digital files will be stored in the Historical Society’s database, and selected images shared on the Society’s social media, and website. 

Institutions like Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, Temples are also encouraged to participate!

Participants may elect to drop off their materials or wait at the Crawford House, enjoying tours of the historic 1830 home and exhibitions.

RSVP are required if you plan to digitize. Otherwise observing demonstration do not require a reservation. RSVP at archivesHSNBH@gmail.com. We can’t wait to see what you bring!
